Marissa Voytenko was born and raised in a rural community in Northern California. As a youth, she received a California Arts Scholar award by attending a rigorous arts program, California State Summer School for the Arts. Marissa studied art at Westmont College in Montecito, California and earned a Master of Fine Art in Studio Teaching from Boston University. She learned about the encaustic medium in graduate school and has been painting with this molten wax medium for 18 years.  Marissa is represented by a number of galleries throughout the United States and has exhibited her work internationally where her work is now in private collections. She received the solo exhibition award at the Dow Museum of Science and Art and recently had her work featured on the cover of the American Psychologist and highlighted in Luxe magazine.  Marissa resides with her family in the Chicago area and has taught as an adjunct professor at Wheaton College.
